Call to Order

Trustee Louis Dodson called the regular meeting of the Marissa Township Board to order at 7:00 p.m. on September 13, 2007 at the township building with the pledge of allegiance.

Minutes of Previous Meeting

Steve Laumbattus made a motion to accept the regular meeting minutes of August 9, 2007. Debbie Smith seconded the motion. A voice vote was taken: All ayes, no nays. Motion carried.

Payment of Bills

Bills were submitted for payment. Curt Werner made a motion to pay the bills as presented. Steve Laumbattus seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken: Curt Werner, yes; Steve Laumbattus, yes; Louis Dodson, yes; and Debbie Smith, yes. Motion carried.

Correspondence

• Debbie Smith mentioned that the Chamber of Commerce is having a golf tournament on October 20 at the Marissa Rec Area.

Cemetery Report

• No report given.

Road Commissioner’s Report

• Tommy Neal reported that the employees have been oiling and chipping some cemetery roads and other township roads.
• The Highway Commissioners meeting was held in Marissa on August 30.
• Tommy is still working on the road agreement with Peabody.
• The road district sold the 1972 Chevy dump truck and blade to Reichmann Brothers for $1176.50.
• Tommy would like to present a resolution to the trustees for adoption at the regular October meeting. This resolution would address crossing township roads for purposes such as water, electricity, etc.

Old Business

· The TOI Education Conference will be held on November 11-13 in Springfield. Those planning to attend are Debbie Smith, Louis Dodson, and Ray Macke. Clerk Evonne Albert will submit their registration and fees.

New Business

• The audit report for FY2007 was distributed to all trustees.
• Louis Dodson announced that Marissa, Lenzburg & New Athens Townships are hosts for the November County meeting to be held on November 15, 2007.
• Steve Laumbattus reported that Kent Vollert is looking into grants available for computers for the Marissa Library. Kent is planning to attend the regular October meeting to discuss any other possible funding options.

Public Comment

Bob Baugher reported for the Marissa Senior Citizens Center regarding their food service program. Sparta Senior Center is willing to continue making and delivering food to Marissa but Marissa must assume this expense. Bob has been talking with the Area Agency on Aging. They will be able to pay Marissa for the food and Marissa will in turn pay Sparta, but funding from the Area Agency on Aging may fall short at times. Bob will keep us informed on any changes to the food service program.

Debbie Smith made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Steve Laumbattus seconded the motion. A voice vote was taken: All ayes, no nays. Motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
